Condor stops flights to 6 North American Cities

Condor Cuts North American Flights for 2025

German leisure airline Condor has announced it will discontinue flights from Frankfurt to six North American destinations in 2025. The affected cities are Baltimore (BWI), Phoenix (PHX), Minneapolis (MSP), San Antonio (SAT), Halifax (YHZ), and Edmonton (YEG). This decision notably impacts some airports significantly, including San Antonio, which will lose its only transatlantic service, marking a setback for the city’s international connectivity.

These cancellations come after a recent ruling by Germany's Federal Court of Justice, allowing Lufthansa to end its Special Pro-Rate Agreement (SPA) with Condor. The SPA had enabled Condor to use Lufthansa’s feeder flights to connect passengers from smaller cities to its long-haul services in Frankfurt. Without this agreement, Condor has struggled to sustain passenger volumes on certain routes, leading to these cutbacks.

For airports like Halifax and Edmonton, Condor's services provided valuable links to Europe, supporting local economies and enhancing accessibility for travelers. The removal of these routes represents a loss of convenience for passengers and reduced competition in transatlantic travel from these cities.

In response to these challenges, Condor plans to expand its own feeder services within Europe and focus on routes with stronger direct demand. This strategic shift aims to ensure long-term sustainability as the airline adapts to the evolving market conditions.

These changes highlight the importance of airline partnerships in maintaining diverse and accessible route networks, especially for smaller airports that rely on such connections to compete in global markets.
