Introduced in 2012, the G650 and its extended-range variant, the G650ER, have been flagship models in Gulfstream's lineup. Over a production span of 13 years, more than 580 units were manufactured. The G650 family set new standards in performance, comfort, and technology, boasting a maximum range of 7,000 nautical miles (12,964 kilometers) for the G650 and 7,500 nautical miles (13,890 kilometers) for the G650ER. Both models are powered by two Rolls-Royce BR725 engines, each producing 16,900 pounds of thrust, enabling a maximum operating speed of Mach 0.925.
Throughout its service, the G650 family achieved numerous records, including a world circumnavigation in 2015 with only one stop and the fastest flight by a business jet from Singapore to Tucson, Arizona, in 2019. Additionally, a G650ER was part of the "One More Orbit" mission, setting a Guinness World Record for the fastest circumnavigation of the Earth via the North and South Poles.
As production of the G650 concludes, Gulfstream is focusing on its successor, the G800. Designed to offer greater range, efficiency, and comfort, the G800 is capable of flying up to 8,000 nautical miles (14,816 kilometers) at Mach 0.85 or 7,000 nautical miles (12,964 kilometers) at Mach 0.90. The aircraft is powered by Rolls-Royce Pearl 700 engines and features an optimized high-speed wing with winglets. Gulfstream anticipates Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) certification for the G800 later this year.
