LEGO family shuts down private airline

The Kirk Kristiansen family, founders and majority owners of the LEGO Group, have announced the closure of their private airline, which has been operational since the 1960s. The decision, effective February 28, 2025, aligns with the family's commitment to sustainability and reflects a decrease in demand for business jet services.

Historically, the family established this airline to facilitate global distribution of LEGO products and for personal travel. The fleet, managed by Air Alsie, currently includes a Dassault Falcon 8X (registration OY-SKK), a Falcon 2000 LXS (OY-CKK), and a Falcon 7X (OY-EKC).ne of these aircraft has already been sold to Denmark's Blackbird Air, while the fate of the remaining jets remains undecided.

This move underscores the family's dedication to environmental responsibility, as they aim to position LEGO as a leader in sustainability within the toy industry. The closure will affect 16 employees associated with the airline's operations. The Kirk Kristiansen family's decision reflects a broader trend in the corporate world, where companies are reevaluating their operations to align with environmental goals and changing market demands.
